Create A Farm

28 Feb

Here are some images of a Create A Farm set I designed for Meadow Kids. The box turns into a barn and there are wooden pieces inside to make a farm scene. The tractor has detachable wheels so it can be fitted together and the whole set comes with paints and sticker sheets to help decorate all the pieces.

Cute! (even if I do say so myself )

She’s only going to go and have another baby…

27 Feb

After just writing my last post, I feel like there should be more of an ‘official’ announcement on here to say that I am up the duff again.
I have another little girl due mid-late June. She is currently having an illegal rave on my bladder – thanks for that, love…
Happy days!

Ingrid Wagner: Big knitting slippers

27 Feb

My mini-pops, Jet has always worn these awesome slippers from a Canadian company called Padraig:

Cuteness.

I have always been so jealous of these – they have sheepskin soles with the lovely soft fleece on the inside to wiggle your toes about in, Mmmmmm. They do make adult sizes of these, but there ‘s something about the proportions of them that make them look a bit wonky-wrong…
I came across Ingrid Wagner at the Stitch & Creative Crafts show in London last year. Check her out, she design patterns for knitting projects using yarn made out of blanket strips – nice.

Here are some slippers I made from one of her patterns with the special yarn and ludicrous knitting needles:

Eagle eyed viewers here may notice that I have either:
a) been eating far too much cake
or
b) gone and  got myself pregnant again.

The correct answer is in fact, c) both of the above.
New baby girl due in June – YAY!! :)

I’m going to be honest here – the slippers aren’t actually that great. The kit that I bought had suede soles included, but they don’t provide any particular warmth or protection. Also, they do tend to slouch down quite a bit around the tops. They kind of remind me of those slippers that people used to have in the 90′s when loads of people ended up in A&E because they had tripped down the stairs whilst wearing huge shaggy monster feet. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend the slippers kit, but if you can think of something else ingenious to knit, the yarn itself and the ridiculous needles are pretty cool!
(sorry about that, Ingrid.)

Homes & Antiques Magazine

27 Feb

Look out – there’s only a picture of some of my work in the March issue of Homes & Antiques magazine!!

Weirdly, the publisher didn’t actually tell me about it. I knew they were considering my work as I had sent them some images, but I didn’t know I was actually going to get into print. Luckily an upholsterer that I know spotted this issue and let me know, as did my mate’s Mum!

I’ve never read Homes & Antiques magazine before. I always thought it would be really granny, but I was quite surprised to find that I really like it.
I’d describe it as a being bit like flicking through Living Etc. whilst half watching The Antiques Roadshow.
Mmmm, Sundays……

Yarn covered earphones

18 Jan

My friend Holes showed me this ace thing that she had seen over on Pinterest. Yarn wrapped earphones. Genius.

Not only does this little project make your earphones look way awesome, but it also stops the little blighters from getting all knotted up – HURRAH!
It’s like a revolution in not-driving-precariously-whilst-untangling-small-wires all the time. You just tie the yarn in a series of knots around the wires like you’re doing a hair braid. I used some self-patterning sock yarn for these and they took approximately 2 episodes of Madmen to complete. Brills.
