Pasties from the West Country…

23 Feb

It was my friend’s hen weekend last week and I thought I’d make her these pasties/nipple tassels and garter as a little pre-wedding gift:

I have never made anything like this before and it was really fun just making it up as I went along! The pasties are made from sequins sewn onto felt and then I sewed on a backing of craft foam. I wasn’t sure quite what to use for this bit as I thought it would be a bit weird trying to put sticky stuff onto the felt itself. I got her a load of toupee tape – so hopefully this combined with the foam should do the trick!!

She liked them so much, she said she is going to wear them under her dress on her wedding day – hurrah!!

Be my Valentine…

14 Feb

So, I was going to make the man a card for Valentine’s, but it just kinda never happened as I couldn’t decide on a final idea.

He got this knitted heart instead. It is an entirely useless object, but I think he quite liked it :)

Ribbon Necklace

2 Nov

It was my friends Emma and Matt’s wedding yesterday – good lord, it was amazing!!!

I made this necklace out of ribbons especially for the occassion. :)

My friend Louise did my hair – it was so fun having such a massive ‘do’ for the day – only prob was, I couldn’t fit in the car properly…

…things could be worse!

Emilia’s Carry Cot Mobile

22 Sep

This month saw the happy arrival of my second little niece Emilia Zara – ahhhhhhhhh!!

Her mum had specifically asked me if I could make her a small mobile that she could attach to Emilia’s carry cot for when she is in the car. Here’s the result:

I was pleased with how it turned out in the end – the three magpies signify “three for a girl”. The black and white should be more stimulating for little Emilia’s eyes whilst she’s still only a squiddler :)

The whole thing is made from normal craft felt with some velcro, ribbon and glass beads for the detail. Click below to see some more pics!:

Spool Bird Mobile

18 Aug

This was one of those projects that you see and you know that life just isn’t going to feel quite right again until you have made one for yourself!

Thanks to the sheer genius of Michael over at Spool, I came across the pattern to make these lovely birds and this fantastic mobile…

I am sooooo pleased with it! My friend Michelle has got a bun in the oven and is due to drop at any second. I am even more excited about the whole thing now I have a good gift for the new happy family when the time comes – aaaaahhhhhhhh!!!!!

I mean, look at these guys…

More pics after the jump…

A book for Tom

17 Jul

Ahhh – I can’t believe my little nephew Thomas has turned one already!

Not wanting to show any favouritism between nieces and nephews, I made him a felt name book similar to the one I made for Alice earlier this year:

It is already a close friend of mine, so I made it a new protective case as a sign of my affection:

Weddingness

22 Jan

Having a wedding takes a whole lot of organisation and is a good thing…

Therefore, please excuse me as I indulge myself by harping on about mine for a while :D

Firstly, I’ll start with this pic of me and the man in all our finery:

Didn’t we scrub up nice?

Don’t be deceived by the stony expressions here. We smiled continuously for about 12 hours that day and this was one of the only chances we had to rest our aching faces!!

Here’s what we’re wearing:

Me: The dress is by Daniela Benson who is a Bristol based designer and the shoes are Vivienne Westwood, Queen of everything!

Him: Suit, shirt and tie all from Gresham Blake and shoes from Church’s, of course.

A full write up of weddingness can be found here at offbeatbride.com where the lovely Ariel was kind enough to include my bride profile (very proud :D ).

Liz’s Scarf

22 Jan

This was just a quicky project really, but it turned out looking pretty cool I think and it made a good crimbo present for my sister-in-law, Liz last year.

It’s kind of a homage to Laura Lees in felt/scarf format:
